Jarbom Gamlin new CM of Arunachal Pradesh

Mr. Jarbom Gamlin is the new Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. He was sworn-in in Itanagar late Thursday night. The State Governor, General (retired) J.J. Singh administered him the oath of office at Raj Bhawan. Mr. Gamlin was the Power Minister in Mr. Dorji Khandu's cabinet. Earlier, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Legislature Party met in Itanagar and passed a resolution authorising Congress President Sonia Gandhi to choose the successor to Mr. Dorji Khandu who was killed in a chopper crash along with four others on Saturday last while going from Tawang to Itanagar. 

Dorji Khandu's last rights will be performed at his native place Tawang today with full state honours. All Central Government offices in the State will remain closed today. The Arunachal Government has announced 7-days State mourning as a mark of respect to the late Chief Minister. Assam Government has also announced a 3-day state mourning in honour of Mr. Khandu.The new Chief Minister Mr. Jarbom Gamlin was born in 1961 and was a Lok Sabha member from Arunachal Pradesh West a decade ago. He was the State Home Minister from 2004 to 2009.
