Kanimozhi lodged in Tihar Jail

DMK MP Kanimozhi was on Friday lodged in a 15 ft x10 ft cell at the Tihar Jail after being sent there for her role in the 2G spectrum case, far from the air-conditioning and other comforts which she is used to at her palatial bungalow in Chennai’s CIT colony.43-year-old Kanimozhi was taken to Jail No. 6 by women personnel after a special CBI court rejected her bail plea and order her “forthwith” arrest.

JPC examines telecom policy of NDA govt, to summon Sorabjee

The JPC on 2G spectrum scam began examining the telecom policy pursued during the NDA rule as it sought to know the quantum of losses incurred during that period and decided to summon the then Attorney General Soli Sorabjee in this connection.At its second meeting since being set up in February, the JPC headed by Congress leader P C Chacko went into matters related to the telecom policy, allocation of spectrum and its pricing between 1998 and 2008.

2G: Supreme Court pulls up IT dept

The Supreme Court on Monday pulled up the Income Tax department for not taking timely action against the companies involved in the 2G spectrum scam and said had it not intervened, the officials would have “slept over it” and the oversees probe would not have proceeded.

Joshi accuses Govt of dividing PAC on party lines

UPA government is trying to make the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) a “puppet” in its hands and divide it on party lines when the mandate of the panel is to be bipartisan, Murli Manohar Joshi, chairperson of the parliamentary committee that examined the 2G spectrum scam, on Tuesday said.“It is shocking that four ministers were sitting in the Parliament office of the Congress and sending chits and giving directions to their members in the PAC to do this or do that. In a way they are making PAC a captive committee,” Mr. Joshi told reporters here.
